“As are the yarns, so is the fabric”
A crafters’ proverb
The Rowan yarns brand was named after the beautiful Rowan trees that grow on the banks of the River Holme in Yorkshire. In 1978, Rowan began operations in premises above a grocery store near Huddersfield, initially specializing in the production of knitting kits. Later, the team moved to a nearby former textile mill, where they continue to operate to this day.
The company’s founders, Stephen Sheard and Simon Cockin, wanted to produce high-quality yarns that would perfectly match current trends – yarns made from natural fibers in a wide selection of colors. They focused on tones that would be timeless in design, and these values have remained central to the Rowan brand. Therefore, garments made from Rowan yarns are likely to still be fashionable 10-20 years from now.
Mode at Rowan yarns
The Rowan brand team has ventured into a new yarn world, offering everyday and affordable luxury with the new Mode at Rowan collection. The yarn selection is made from natural fibers, providing trendy and best-selling color choices. The collection of patterns is beautiful, stylish, and in neutral tones, blending seamlessly with contemporary lifestyles. It’s a great opportunity to create a capsule wardrobe.
Why Choose Rowan Yarns?
In the Rowan yarn selection, you will find luxurious yarns with natural composition. They use wool of various origins, the highest quality of which is Merino wool from the Falkland Islands. The Falkland Islands are renowned for producing the highest quality wool, and their merino wool is world-class.
In addition, the compositions also include cashmere, mohair, and silk. The brand’s signature yarns are tweed yarns with different compositions, with the most famous among designers and knitters being Felted Tweed DK. Throughout its history, Rowan’s most popular yarns have been: Kidsilk Haze, Alpaca Soft DK, Alpaca Classic, Fine Lace, Big Wool, Brushed Fleece, and Kid Classic.
All Starts with Good Design
Rowan brand yarn collections originate from model collections created by designers who handle all aspects of stylish craftsmanship design. Seasonal pattern collections draw inspiration from designers such as Kaffe Fassett, Martin Storey, Brandon Mably, Sarah Hatton, Georgia Farrell, and Lisa Richardson. Based on the completed collections, new yarn compositions are selected and existing yarn color ranges are expanded. Rowan’s inspiring knitting and crochet magazine, available worldwide, has published over 75 issues.
Rowan models feature timeless traditional garments as well as modern, trendy knits, all made from the finest materials. Since 2019, Rowan designers have also created the contemporary and trendy Mode at Rowan collection, in addition to the traditional knitwear collection.
